off-Broadway and Broadway successes
of all time, Godspell is based on the
Gospel According to St. Matthew. It
is a fun, modern day retelling of the
New Testament parables through music
and energetic choreography. Godspell
is a joyous celebration of music, mime,
comedy and slapstick, often at times
sentimental. The performers utilize
clowning, charades, acrobatics, and
vaudeville to tell the story. The score
calls on all modern musical influences,
including Rock, Gospel and Ragtime -
and includes the hits "Prepare
Ye the Way of the Lord" and "Day
by Day."
